Thirteen months on the design table, comes to life in 2004 with the Spectrum. The first ever full 3 sided wrap around soleplate design. The folks at SMT wanted a clubhead that had the most efficient transfer of power that I could get. They wanted the ball to leave the clubface as quickly and as legally as possible, and wanted it to feel and look like nothing that has ever been done before. Due to the manufacturing process, it is almost impossible to have a soleplate that covers three distinctive sides of the head. Sole, backskirt and crown. It takes on a special meaning since SMT heads are made differently than all other heads.
This unique design afforded them the luxury of both deepening the Center Of Gravity and at the same time, raising it. This gives us the best of both worlds. Welcome the "Little Brother". The O2, beautifully appointed, was created to be the Prince to the current King. Beautiful and rich see through copper color with smoke black edges and backskirt, this "bad boy" will perform the same duties as it's very famous Sire. With it's deep bore design for stabilization, it's more rounded body shape and ever so slightly higher Center Of Gravity than the 455, it fits into the SMT line without so much as a ripple.
Besides the Spectrum, it is the only other head to have a unique modified alignment crown design. The trajectory is just a shade lower than the 455, for a very penetrating ball flight.

The Ashton MS-5 is quite possibly the most technologically advanced component head available today. You can order this head in a "standard" version, or a "draw" version, which places internal weight in the optimal position to help a slice. Ashton's testing indicated that drivers with movable weights simply did not move enough weight around to be effective. The "draw" version of this head does.
If you don't have a problem in that area, the "standard" is the way to go. Both are long and forgiving.
Absolutely stunning paint job and classic pear shaped look. The MS-5 features a double satin finish face. What is double satin? When a titanium head is produced it has a natural satin finish. Traditionally it is then lightly sanded to obtain the uniform satin finish. We strived for a satin finish not found on traditional component heads. To get to this finish, the face of the MS-5 is lightly sanded from raw form and then polished to a mirror finish. The third step is to very lightly sand the face to a very shallow and fine satin finish. The result is simply beautiful, adding to the overall stunning appearance of the MS-5 head.
